about

TAPES: vmthanaachth.bandcamp.com/album/sallow-moth-vmthanaachth

The lore here is predominantly an aside and depicted as accompanying developments to the main story of the Sallow Moth full lengths. Synopsis of these three songs:

1 - A primitive, hidden civilization of druids on a remote planet trying to remain obscure and undetected by the tech-obsessed colonial maniac known as Servym, who is vigilantly on the prowl in space as he looks to colonize every civilization and nature-filled planet to become assimilated into his ever growing cybernetic society. Servym eventually stumbled across this remote planet and disseminated capsules filled with mana and slime, designed to break out of the capsules during an engineered extinction event (by Servym's machines). This slime was developed by him to break down all remaining nature and life as a secondary measure in case this civilization proved to be worthy enough to fight back the machines. Many perished but a few herbalists managed to compromise some of the capsules with their own form of magic, giving an identity and partial conscience. It was not enough to overcome the machines, but enough to destroy many of them in this ugly colonial war. Servym tried to recapture the slime but was unsuccessful. The slime now roams the ravaged planet as a mostly impervious security system to the few druids left behind.

2 - A small but emerging tale about a fleet of thieves and rogues in space looking for their next fix. They spend most of their lives looting for weapons, treasures, and precious artifacts in the cosmos. However, they've raised the stakes by worming their way into assassination jobs under the order of an unnamed shadow organization. This organization casts a wide net into the reaches of the universe with their grip of space pirates, looking to take out key threats from the wars between the Mothfolk, Servym, and the Moss Deceptiva (rogue Mothfolk faction). Their hope is to weaken each side of this tumultuous and ongoing tension so that the shadow organization will emerge as the strongest threat in the universe with the most spoils. But power is not everything.

3 - This is a poignant depiction of an android going through a transformative revolt against their master's orders to colonize. This android, caught in the tangle of war between humanity, magic, nature, and chaos, has been left behind on one of the many ravaged planets under Servym's orders. Instead of being decommissioned, it was begrudgingly left at the bottom of a well. But at the bottom of this well contains plasma from a broken slime capsule. The forlorn android makes the choice to consume the slime in an uncharacteristic fit of rage, thus going through an otherworldly transformation from android to a mossy, robotic mutant hellbent on creating its own army out of the ruins of Servym's ravaged planets. Using powerful and arcane artifacts, machines, and nature together may prove to be a formidable and unexpected threat to Servym's goal of galactic dominance.
